Russia - why the hostility?
Britain seems to lead the Western hostility to Russia. Some attribute it to the C19th ‘Great Game’. But is there a more obscure Doom Cult motive dating from events in C15th Asia Minor?
British hostility to Russia is absurd. Russia poses no direct threat to Britain. The time is long gone when Britain went to great lengths in the C19th to keep Russia out of India, the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the British Empire, the so-called ‘Great Game’. This was the time when the British battled with the Russians in all parts of the Hindu Kush and Central Asia; fighting the Crimean War alongside the French in 1853 to prop up Turkey as a buffer and stop the Russians from having warm water naval bases in the Black Sea.
In 2025 the British Empire no longer exists (officially). India is now a sovereign nation. The C20th Cold War is over – Russia no longer being communist. So, why is PM Keir Starmer continuing to beat war drums, along with his counterparts in the European Union? Are these modern-day sabre rattlers just doing the bidding of a Doom Cult which may have a long memory of a grievance that took place in Asia Minor more than 500 years ago?
‘Defending Democracy’
There is much that does not stack up about the pretext for anti-Russian sentiment in the West. We are fed a cock ’n’ bull story about “defending democracy” in the Ukraine when that country is run by a dictator who doesn’t hold elections; persecutes any opposition [as shown by the demise of cosmopolitan blogger Gonzalo Lira]; and has press gang methods for recruitment into the Ukrainian army that would shame even the Royal Navy in the C19th.1
Why exactly are we supposed to defend a country that many of its own military age men left as soon as they could in 2022? Clearly they did not want to risk their lives and die for their country.
At the same time as pushing this cant on us about ‘democracy’, Western leaders repeatedly reveal their own lack of values. As VP JD Vance pointed out in his Munich February 2025 speech, the West does not protect free speech in its own countries; you can be imprisoned for the most inane post on social media. Nor does the West defend either its own borders or its own citizens from invasion by illegal immigrants (regardless of PM Starmer’s recent change of position).
So, if it isn’t values, then why the intense interest in Ukraine?
It could be said that exports of Ukrainian products, especially grains and fertiliser, had been important to the UK agricultural sector. But after Russia’s ‘Special Military Operation’ began in 2022, not only did UK farmers miss out on inputs from the region, but the UK government agreed to tariff-free imports of Ukrainian produce – thus further undermining UK farming.
Given how little the UK government cares for its own farmers, even that pretext is wearing thin. In the UK we are truly entering a “let them eat cake” phase … And then there are the rare earth resources, given as another reason for wanting access to Ukraine; rare earths which seem to be getting rarer by the minute.
Either way, there doesn’t seem to be much to account for the £billions that have been poured into the black hole that is Ukraine.
Some speak of the need to protect darker interests such as the extensive network of Western (mainly US) bio-labs in the country;2 and worse, the trafficking of children [I will return to this key subject in another article].3 Ukrainian president Zelensky has accused the Russians of ‘stealing’ 20,000 children. Others might respond that they were rescued.
Eyes on the Prize
Above all, one clear motive stands out for the Doom Cult’s obsession with conflict in Eastern Europe: the long held desire to crush Russia, break up the country and grab its resources; this time using Ukraine as its proxy for stirring conflict.
It is a statement of the obvious that Russia, as the largest landmass of any country, has some of the most untapped wealth in the world (oil, gas, rare earths etc etc). The Russian ‘bread basket’ alone could effectively feed the world. There is no actual shortage of food globally, contrary to what the Doom Cult would like us to believe.
The Doom Cult has thus had its eyes on conquering Russia for a long time, for centuries in fact, by fair means or foul.
‘Foul’ means
It could be argued that the C21st conflict in Ukraine is a continuation of the ‘foul means’ that the Doom Cult has been pursuing, quite possibly since the time of Napoleon and his 1812 failed campaign, when he got as far as Moscow and then had to retreat. And then the mid-C19th Crimean War, while a defeat for Czar Alexander II, did not give either the British or the French access to the country as such.4
More successful was the Doom Cult’s attempt to destroy Russia with the invasion of the communist Bolsheviks in 1917, backed by Wall Street. Even so, they didn’t necessarily achieve their main objective, ie total control of the country.
On the one hand, the Soviet experiment gave the Doom Cult useful insights into the psychology of state-controlled neo-feudalism [which is essentially what ‘communism’ is] combined with modern machinery. Russia in the 1920s and ‘30s was in many ways the ultimate showcase for a centralized managerial technocracy, representing the direction of travel that Davos (aka World Economic Forum) is still trying to take us with its Fourth Industrial Revolution.
On the other hand, Doom Cult largely failed in its mission. For a start, Trotsky had been Wall Street’s choice to become the leader. Then, when Lenin died in 1924 and Stalin took over, Doom Cult’s control was significantly diminished.5 And so by the early 1920s they had embarked on another tactic, one which involved encouraging the nascent Nazi Party in Germany and its erratic but charismatic leader Adolf Hitler.
It is more than likely that the Doom Cult had the crushing of Russia as one of its goals in supporting the Germans. The timings of events up to and during WWII allow for such an interpretation.
Authors Jim MacGregor and John O’Dowd have explored how the rise of Nazism was encouraged by powerful Anglo-American interests in their recent publication ‘Two World Wars and Hitler. Who was responsible?’.6 In particular they have identified a Harvard-educated German-American and associate of the Roosevelt brothers, Putzi Hanfstaengl, as a likely ‘handler’ of Hitler from the 1920s. He helped by providing funding and was implicated in the 1933 Reichstag fire incident which brought Hitler to power.
Was it part of Hanfstaengl’s brief to tell Hitler to destroy Russia?
WWII tactics & Russia
Either way, Hitler first lured the Russians into a false sense of security at the beginning of the war with the Molotov-Ribbentrop non-aggression pact agreed in August 1939. Then the Germans proceeded with their plans for the takeover of Western Europe, quelling most resistance by late 1940; after the fall of France, the allied defeat at Dunkirk and the Battle of Britain had concluded. The British may have stopped the Germans from taking Britain but the Dunkirk defeat meant that Hitler had control of Europe. It is crucial to note that at this juncture the USA was not in the war.
Was this German early success an opportunity for recruitment prior to launching the attack on Russia? Even if those men didn’t actually fight on the Eastern front? Because it wasn’t until June 1941 that Hitler was ready to break the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and launch Operation Barbarossa.
As commentator Thierry Meyssan points out,
‘In France, which was designated as one of the “victors” after the war, significantly more Frenchmen fought on the side of the German army than participated in the Resistance and fought on the side of the Allied forces. SS men from the French “Charlemagne” division were among those who stubbornly defended the Reichstag and the Reich Chancellery in May 1945. In [..] Poland, considered the most affected country in Europe during World War II, more than 500,000 Poles fought on Hitler’s side’.7
And Operation Barbarossa was arguably the most audacious battle operation ever in terms of scale; one that involved nearly 4 million Axis troops fighting for the Germans, including many Ukrainians, and an 1,800 mile line of contact through the Western side of the Soviet Union. The Germans had no difficulty in finding Nazi-sympathisers among the Ukrainians who volunteered to fight Russians [hence the problem today as they didn’t disappear after WWII].
In all approximately 10 million combatants participated, with 8 million casualties mostly among the Russians. But above all, it was the Russian willingness to sacrifice themselves in defence of their country [they call it the “Great Patriotic War”] that meant that what should have been a certain victory ended in failure.
Six months later, by early December 1941, it must have been obvious that the Germans could not win. (Even the later attempts by the Germans to attack Russia through the Caucuses were no more successful.) It then became crucial to the Doom Cult that America should enter the war in order to have some control over the Soviet Union.
As Roosevelt wrote to Churchill in March 1942 “I think I can personally handle Stalin better than your Foreign Office or my State Department. Stalin hates the guts of all your top people. He thinks he likes me better…”.8
By which time the false flag of Pearl Harbour had happened, and Churchill had spent more than a month inviting himself to stay in the White House. Without doubt, Churchill’s prolonged stay in America is odd for a leader at the height of a national crisis. He must have felt the need to ensure that the Americans did join the war effort.
‘Fairer’ means – the vultures descend
The Second World War, however, ended in a colossal disaster for the Doom Cult. Not only did Russia stay intact but even extended its sphere of influence over Eastern Europe as part of the Yalta conference carve-up between the powers. Churchill was quick to turn the tables on the Russians with his 1945 ‘Iron Curtain’ speech and cast former allies into a useful threat to the West, which justified the creation of NATO and constant military expenditure.
It is this Cold War hostility which has constantly lurked below the surface, even when there have been brief periods of détente, such as after the Soviet Union collapsed in the 1990s. This was the period that saw the rise of the Russian oligarch and Western ‘vulture’ capitalists descended on the country.
We then witnessed the same scenario play out in Russia as in China. The Doom Cult likes to open up a country to its Western oligarchs and encourage a tiny minority of local ultra-wealthy business titans, while the rest of the population live in squalid conditions of neo-feudalism under the guise of communism. In the case of China, the Doom Cult only wanted a few major ports such as Shanghai to develop and the rest to remain in abject poverty.
Prominent among those to arrive in Russia in the 1990s was American investor Bill Browder. Browder’s attitude to Russia exemplifies the Doom Cult’s approach. During the 1990s, when he had the freedom to operate as he wanted, Putin was the “best thing since sliced bread”. But once Putin began to crack down on the oligarchs in the early 2000s and Browder’s financial vehicle, Hermitage Capital, itself came under the spot light, Putin became the “devil” and Browder was then instrumental in the passing of the 2012 Magnitsky Act in the USA.9
‘Balkanise’ Russia
Throughout the centuries Doom Cult has had this ambivalent attitude. On the one hand, aligning with Russians when it suited, as in both world wars; on the other hand, constantly characterising Russia as a threat, and pushing the need to break up the country into smaller states. This desire to ‘Balkanise’ Russia has been a Doom Cult objective for a long time.
The position of Kaja Kallas, the EU’s foreign affairs representative and former PM of Estonia, is typical of Doom Cult puppets who believe Russia should be broken up.
Curiously an early attempt was made to break up Russia as far back as the C17th. In 1613 two English ambassadors John Merrick and William Russell landed in the north of Russia with a dual mission. They were officially instructed to protect the financial position of the London Muscovy Company, which had been set up to carry out trade with Russia since the early 1500s.
But these ambassadors also had a secret aim: ‘to explore the possibility of annexing part of northern Russia and to set up an English colony in Muscovy. It was hoped that this colony could stretch along the river Volga and down to the Russian border with Persia’.10 Needless to say, the mission failed in its secondary objective, but the intent was there.
Indeed, this secret C17th objective begs the question, was this always the real purpose behind the setting up of the London Muscovy Company? This trading entity, a precursor to the East India Company 35 years later, was created in London in 1555 and has all the hallmarks of the original Doom Cult [from Venice] using its English proxy to pursue its aims; one of which may have been a hostile takeover of parts of Russia.
The old grievance - the legacy of Rome
Pure speculation on my part, but I am wondering if the illogical and misplaced hostility toward Russia that we currently experience today in the C21st doesn’t actually trace back to a grievance that the Venetian Doom Cult may have developed toward Russia following events that actually took place in the C15th. My argument being that the Doom Cult, having a dynastic culture, is able to take long term positions on issues and hard-wire in secret policy objectives - in such a way that those act on their behalf [eg the English] might have no idea why.
I am referring to the significance of Constantinople to the Venetians, and what happened after the fall of Constantinople in 1453.
It is easy for us to forget that the Roman Empire didn’t entirely disappear nearly a thousand years earlier. When Rome in the West collapsed in the C5th [and certain Roman families (the original Doom Cult) fled to Venice], ‘Rome in the East’, ie Constantinople, survived and thrived - until 1453. Then the last Roman emperor, Constantine XI Paleologue, died in the battle for the Constantinople against the Ottoman Turks.
What may have upset the Venetians in the C15th was the fact that his niece, Sophia Paleologue,11 married the Russian prince of Moscow in 1472, Ivan III, who began to call himself the Russian equivalent of Caesar, ie ‘Czar’. In other words, Russians took it upon themselves to continue the Roman legacy. By the time of Ivan III’s grandson’s reign, Ivan the Terrible, the title had stuck. He became the first crowned Czar of all Russia in 1547.
The Venetians themselves seem to have had an ambivalent attitude to ‘Rome in the East’. While officially acknowledging their allegiance to Constantinople, it may have been the failure of the Venetians to support the last emperor, Constantine XI Paleologue, that led to the catastrophic defeat in 1453. The Venetian fleet, although promised, never arrived to relieve the beleaguered city.
The Venetians had also had no qualms about participating in the sacking of Constantinople 250 years earlier. They had made a significant contribution to the 4th Crusade in 1204 destined for Jerusalem in terms of ships, men and horses and were part of the decision to divert to Constantinople which they helped to plunder.
According to historian Garrett Ryan, the Venetians then imported stones - fine marble that they used to upgrade the basilica San Marco, carved statues such as the Pilastri Acritari or the porphyry Tetrarch emperors - from Constantinople in order to make themselves look more Roman.12 They also stole from the city iconic symbols that we now associate with Venice such as the four horses and the twin columns.13
Thus, the Venetians may have felt aggrieved about upstart Russians openly taking on the mantle of the Roman empire, and all its glory, from 1547 when Ivan IV declared himself Czar of all Russia.
So, did the Venetians decide to use a trading operation based in London as a way of getting back at the Russians by getting a trading foothold in Russia? It was only four years later in 1551 that the beginnings of the London Muscovy Company formed with the setting up of the Company of Merchant Adventurers, and the Muscovy Company chartered in 1555.
London Muscovy & Venice
What is suspicious is that one of main drivers behind the London Muscovy company was the famous maritime navigator Sebastian Cabot and son of the renown Venetian explorer John Cabot. Sebastian was already governor of the Company of Merchant Adventurers when the London Muscovy Company started and it was he who plotted the route to Russia via the Arctic Circle for the voyage to Russia, avoiding the Baltic Sea which was dominated by the hostile Hanseatic League.
There is some confusion as to whether or not Sebastian was born in Venice or in Bristol.14 Either way, he expressed a strong loyalty to Venice throughout his life, regardless of whether he was in service to the English or Spanish Court. In 1551 he was definitely in touch with the ‘Council of Ten’ who ruled Venice. In their correspondence with the Venetian ambassador to England they refer to “ their most faithful Sebastian Cabot” and some secret proposal regarding a navigation which is to be put ‘into cipher’.15
At the very minimum, the London Muscovy Company would make a useful front for espionage. It more or less remained active until the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917, after which London Muscovy became a charity that still exists.
Western propaganda
Whatever the truth, we need to be sceptical of the pack of lies we are told today. The Doom Cult likes to demonise whoever does not pursue its interests. The English have been doing its bidding for centuries. So it makes sense that there could be a hidden motive behind the hostility toward Russia that their English pawns have no knowledge of.
As we become increasingly aware of how we have been manipulated over time, we also begin to realise that we have been provoked into fighting wars on spurious claims - to suit the Doom Cult. Whether World War I or World War II, none of these conflicts needed to have happened. Even older conflicts such as the 30 Years War (1618-1648) may have had the malevolent influence of the Doom Cult behind them. It is no coincidence that their modern-day puppet Sir Tony Blair is so opposed to the 1648 Treaty of Westphalia that concluded that appalling tragedy, in which parts of Germany lost half of its population with an estimated 8 million dying.16
Now that we live through the travesty of democracy that Britain has become, we are in no position to criticise any other regime, whether Russia or elsewhere. ‘Democracy’ has become a meaningless term. In the meantime the Doom Cult is constantly trying to push a forever war in the Ukraine.
But if the Americans can achieve peace in Ukraine with the Russians, only the Doom Cult and its minions would be upset. And what a shame that would be …
A common practice in the C19th was the use of the ‘king’s shilling’ which was slipped into the pocket of drunken potential recruit into the Navy and then the shilling was revealed to the magistrate the next day as ‘proof’ that the hapless victim had agreed to enlist

The same mistake was not made with China 30 years later. The Doom Cult retained a much tighter rein and made China its slave factory base from the 1970s as a means of undermining America.

Loved this deep and broad history lesson. Very few of my American compatriots know the role Russia played in first, our war of independence (sorry!), by faking King George our by promising and not delivering battle-tested Prussian mercenaries enabling the US army to gather and train; and in our civil war, sending ships to San Francisco, and either NY or DC, I forget, to persuade the British navy from sticking its nose in on the side of the South.
From dragging our arse into both WW's, through The Ukraine deadly farce, coupled with Starmer's blatant attempted interference in the US 2024 elections, an argument could be made that the war for independence from the British govt--not the people--is still ongoing, through entities like the Pilgrim Society.
